Last year I went to Santa Fe, New Mexico, for a conference on textiles. While I was there I was able to visit one of my favorite museums; The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.
Born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, O'Keeffe began her career in New York City. After visiting Taos, New Mexico in 1929, she began to travel spend her summers in New Mexico, where she set up a studio. In 1940 she moved to Ghost Ranch, outside of Abiquiú, New Mexico.
O'Keeffe's later work draws on the desert landscape, colors and sense of isolation. O'Keeffe spent her remaining years in New Mexico. She moved from Ghost Ranch to Santa Fe in 1984, where she died on March 6, 1986 at the age of 98.
Last week, I was honored to host an intimate Moth Event at my apartment. The Moth is a non-profit group based in New York City dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling.
It was a wonderful evening surrounded by some lovely people!
